Motivated workers are generally more productive. Motivating your employees does not take a lot of resources. In fact, it might simply require you to take a few minutes out of your schedule to say “hello”.

As a business owner, you need to maximise revenue and increase productivity. In order to achieve these objectives, you need your staff to work as efficiently as possible. To get you off to a good start, follow the 5 ways to motivate your staff:

Communicate with Your Employees:
Your employees will never be motivated to meet your goals if you are nothing more than a name on an email. Schedule some time to speak to them face-to-face, even if it is simply to say “hello” or give them a pat on the back after a job well done. Employees need to feel valued, and communicating in person is the easiest way to show your appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

Lead by Example:
Your employees won’t work hard or behave the way that you want them to if you are not willing to lead by example. Show some excitement and enthusiasm for your company and its goals, and your employees will get on board and start working towards achieving those goals.

Empower Your Employees:
Enable your employees to offer their input and suggestions on ways to improve their performance. Most employees have brilliant ideas, but they might not share them with you if you don’t ask directly. Schedule regular employee reviews, and use them to discuss improvement ideas. Then be sure to take their advice and implement it.

Give Employees Opportunities for Advancement:
Employees are more motivated when they know they are working towards something. If their hard work won’t get them promoted in a few years, they won’t have much to work for, and they will start feeling as though they are stuck in a dead-end job. Motivate your employees by offering training that gives them the opportunity to climb the career ladder, as this will also build your company’s reputation as a great place to work.

Reward Your Employees with Incentives:
Incentives have always been a motivation booster. Offer incentives like gift cards, retail vouchers, cash prizes, or other low-cost rewards that show your appreciation for a job well done.

Motivation plays a key role in changing the behaviour and the level of productivity in the workplace, as well as retaining your best employees. Learn more about employee motivation, recognition and rewards by contacting WOW Enterprise Performance Solutions today.
